| KAANAPALI BEACH A beautiful 3-mile white sandy beach in the heart of Maui’s largest resort area with many activities to choose from-sailboat rides, rentals, surf and windsurf lessons. This beach is a great place to people watch and has great snorkeling around Black Rock. Plenty of shops and concessions are within walking distance. Easy access from all the Kaanapali hotels. Take Rte 30 (Honoapiilani Hwy) through Lahaina, turn left on Kaanapali Parkway. |
| KAPALUA BEACH The first beach to be named “America’s Best Beach” in 1991, this beautiful cresent-shaped tropical oasis with golden sandy beach offers good swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving due to its sheltered cove. Showers and restrooms are available. Off lower Honoapiilani Hwy before Kapalua Bay Hotel. |
| LAUNIUPOKO BEACH PARK With unique natural lava pool made by the surrounding lava rock wall makes this a great beach for small children. Picnic tables and restrooms are available. South of Lahaina off Rte 30. |
| NAPILI BEACH A spectacular white sandy crescent beach is perfect for sunbathing, snorkeling and bodyboarding. Beware of dangerous rip tides, strong currents and shorebreaks. Also be cautious of the steep slope when entering the ocean. Off of Napili Place or Hui Drive near Kapalua Resort |

| KAMAOLE BEACH PARKS Three fabulous sandy beaches separated by lava outcroppings offers excellent swimming conditions, snorkeling, ample parking and volleyball courts making this beach park a local favorite. Picnic area with barbeque pits, showers and restrooms are available. Lifeguard on duty. On South Kihei Road in Kihei. |
| KIHEI BEACH A series of sandy beaches, coves and tidepools along over six miles of coastline in Kihei. Some areas have facilities and lifeguards available. Off S. Kihei Rd. |
| MAKENA BEACH STATE PARK Also known as Big Beach, this stunning beach is one of Maui’s signature beaches with a large stretch of white sand. Little Beach draws in nude sunbathers (illegal) and offers excellent bodysurifing, adjacent to Big Beach. Be aware of dangerous shorebreaks. Off Wailea Alanui Drive. |
| POLO BEACH Popular sandy beach with excellent swimming and snorkeling was named “America’s Best Beach” in 1999. It’s a great place to whale watch during whale season Dec.-April. Picnic tables, showers and restrooms are available. Near the Kea Lani Resort in Wailea. |
| ULUA BEACH PARK A local favorite for outstanding swimming, snorkeling and beachcombing is also a great place for walkers and joggers on the paved beachwalk. Access if off of Wailea Alaniu Drive between the entrance for the Renaissance Wailea and Wailea Marriot. |
| WAILEA BEACH Restaurants and shops are within walking distance from this beautiful wide golden sandy beach with excellent swimming and good snorkeling. Equipment rentals and facilities are available. Great place to whale watch (Dec-April) and catch a sunset. Next to the Grand Wailea Resort in Wailea. |
| NORTH MAUI BEACHES |
| BALDWIN BEACH PARK A postcard perfect beach with great swimming and bodysurfing also has a “baby beach”, a lagoon safe for children. Picnic facilities and restrooms are available. Lifeguard on duty. Off Hana Highway, 1 mile west of Baldwin Ave. in Paia. |
| KANAHA BEACH PARK World famous for the stellar windsurfing conditions, this beach is also great for swimming, diving and volleyball. Picnic tables, showers and restrooms are available. Lifeguard on duty. Off of Amala Place in Kahului behind the airport. |
| HOOKIPA BEACH The hottest spot for windsurfing and surfing. This beach is world famous for the increase of popularity of windsurfing. Not a good place to swim but a place to watch the skilled watermen. Picnic tables and barbeque grills are available. Off Rte. 36 ~2 miles past Paia. |
| EAST MAUI BEACHES |
| HAMOA BEACH Family-friendly beach was named one of ten “America’s Best Beaches” in 2006, is an exceptional beach with excellent swimming, bodysurfing. Author James Michener wrote about this “perfectly formed” crescent beach lined with Hala trees. Be aware of dangerous shorebreaks. Facilities are available. Parking available on the side of Haneoo Rd. Turn left onto Haneoo Rd off of Hana Highway and use the staircase down to the beach. |
| HANA BEACH PARK One of the best swimming beaches due to its well protected bay is popular with locals. Many community events are held at this nice beach. Located on Hana Bay, north of Kauiki Head off Hana Hwy. |
| KAIHALULU (RED SAND) BEACH A scenic “secret beach” offers good swimming and excellent snorkeling on calm days inside the sea wall. The ironwood trees and the volcanic red sand from an old cinder cone are dramatic against the blue water along with the natural lava sea wall. Beware of dangerous ocean conditions such as heavy surf and strong currents outside the lava wall. Hiking to the beach can be slippery and difficult so wear appropriate shoes. Nudity isn’t uncommon (illegal). South of Hana Bay off Hana Highway. Take Uakea Rd. past the turnoff to Hana Bay. Take the path between the community center and hotel. Walk past the Japanese cemetery and turn right. Use caution when climbing down the steep and slippery trail to this Maui red sand beach. |
| WAIANAPANAPA STATE PARK Black sand beach fringed with naupaka is good for swimming, snorkeling and exploring freshwater pools in caves. Camping, cabin rental and facilities are available. Off Hana Highway, near mile marker 32. |
