Fredrico

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel

 

1 ¼ oz.             Bacardi Light Rum

1 ¼ oz.             Jack Daniel’s

1 oz.                 Orange juice concentrate

1 oz.                 Passion juice concentrate

2 oz.                 Guava juice concentrate

3 oz.                 Unsweetened pineapple juice

 

Mix in blender the above ingredients with crushed ice. Pour into a 14 oz. double Old Fashion glass. Garnish with a pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry and Vanda orchid.

 

The story of the Fredrico

In brief, Mauna Kea homeowner Fred and friend Rick were thinking of a drink they could call their own while relaxing at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s Hau Tree restaurant bar, known as the Gazebo Bar at the time. One wanted a drink with rum and the other wanted one with bourbon.

To keep them both happy, the bartender combined the two spirits with Mauna Kea’s blended concoction of fruit juices. Thus, the Fredrico was born.
