A refuge for several species of seabirds, some nesting and some endangered, surrounds the lighthouse. Red-footed boobies, Laysan albatrosses, wedge-tailed shearwaters and the magnificent frigate bird with 71/2-foot wingspan are just some examples of birds that can be seen at the refuge. Make reservations for the two-hour guided hikes through the refuge available Monday thru Thursday. Located on Kilauea Lighthouse Rd. Open daily 10am-4pm. Admission is $3 per person; children under 16 are free.
